It’s All On! – UK Tour, New EP & LIVE Album

So that was the summer of 2010.
Now the suggestion of autumn in the air means it’s time to head back out onto the road and spread a little musical something across this tiny island I call home. I have been busily building a new EP to prepare the ground for what will eventually be my fourth album. That’s right, four, as in 4; I feel every inch the elder statesman of rock.
Having brought the recording process back into my home again, this EP was a joy to make.
The idea this time is to approach the new album by looking first at the elements that will be contained within. I have been accused in the past of making albums that are overly eclectic and lacking in a singular identifiable “sound”. I happily plead guilty to these charges and intend this next album to be no less diverse; but before it’s full release next Spring, it will be divided up into a series of EPs that will give an idea of its constituent parts. So the first EP is carrying a little vitriol and what is probably the greater chunk of my North American influence: but when I get home from this tour I am already feeling that there will be a motivation to record an EP of heartbreakingly sentimental moments. Then who knows? Perhaps that hip-hop EP I have always been threatening…this is not a throwaway light hearted comment.
So the van is packed and tomorrow we hit the road for Newcastle upon Tyne. It’s going to be a three-man show that promises to blow your head off and then kiss it better. I am once again teamed up with the mighty musical polymaths that are Velvet Hands Arnold and Piss Whiskey. Our plan is to fill a stage with noisemaking objects and then do our damndest to get a bunch of great tunes out of them all.
As if a new UK Tour and an EP were not enough to be getting on with, there is also a new Live album which I recorded earlier this year in New York City.
I have imaginatively titled the album, “New York City Live”. It’s a record of a particularly magical evening in the Big Apple and features the return of the prodigal harmonist, Frances Law and many other handsome and wise people who made up the audience that memorable night. Both this album and the EP are available on iTunes and other similar digital download sites and in a matter of days there will be lovely CD versions available from our merch shop at http://www.backstreet-merch.com/bands/dford/
Details of the tour and all other business are below. Thank you for your continued interest and support. As long as it continues, so can I.

New Music, New Album(s) & A UK Tour

Its been a busy August Bank Holiday with lots of music and photos being made ready for turning into albums. We have also updated lots of our David Ford web stuff and there’ll be even more of this going on over the next week or so, all of which will mean that you get to hear, read and see stuff regarding David’s releases, videos, tours et al more easily and more often.

We have released a brilliant new song taken from the forthcoming mini album ‘FORD 4.1′ – it’s called ‘Pour A Little Poison’ and you can hear it on the facebook page (www.facebook.com/davidfordmusic), the Reverb Nation page ( http://www.reverbnation.com/davidford ) and on David’s home page at (www.davidfordmusic.com )

We are also streaming a wonderful live performance of ‘Song For The Road’ from the live album ‘New York City LIVE’ which was recorded with no overdubs or fixes on May 13th at Le Poisson Rouge on Bleeker Street.

Both of these albums will be available to buy from iTunes, at gigs and from David’s merch site from mid September 2011.
