really sorry about the nasty stuff invading this forum. We're deleting it as fast as we can and Mr Wibbler will look into ways of stopping it.
At least most of them are polite enough to post in the Off Topic section...
I particularly appreciate the ones in Cyrillic... :?
Don't get duped into buying the 'rock hard' pills. They don't work. What a waste of £200.
So, every morning I get to work, fix myself a coffee, boot up and check this board for spam.

There's been a lot lately. Sometimes I have to look very closely of all those pictures of young ladies to make sure that they're not in fact from some particularly enthusiastic fans. Turns out they're not.

One thing we're learned is, don't use the word 'minidick' in your posts. Unless you're VERY broad-minded. I'm looking at you, oneofthethree.

Anyway, point is this: Mr Wibbler; can I ban individual accounts? And everyone, do we know any ways to stop this?
Being searching the net for some kind of solution. First thing to figure out is if there are actual people or an automatic program doing it. If it's a spambot... then simply adding a question to the registration program should do it.

I've found this on a website:

I use another free tool from bbAntiSpam, namely Textual Confirmation. Once it's installed, you can disable the phpBB CAPTCHA, as nearly all robots will be stopped. The idea behind Textual Confirmation is simple. To distinguish robots from humans, a simple question is asked during the registration process. This can be something like "What's the language used on this forum?" or "In the alphabet, which letter comes after A?"

Here is the link to the page:

Not that I know how to do it... but surely someone around here does... I hope...
Spam is maps backwards.
Yeah, I'm sure you can get plugins for phpBB (an excellent choice of board) which make you answer a real world question. For example, why not add a question to the registration page which asks "What is the name of David Ford's second album? (Clue: SFTR)". A question humans can answer, spambots can't.
And a David Ford related question would keep out human spammers too... don't think they would be willing to spend time researching David Fords infos just to post their crap.
the award for the most ironic post of the year goes to.....
